Hi! We are using IDS7.3 on Linux with our application. However we have a lot of problems with error -25580 which is/should be corrected (AFIK) in the future release of IDS7.3. Due to this unsolved problems we installed and tested our application on trial IFX.2000 on Linux. So far it works o.k. and my impression is that IFX.2000 is far more polished product than IDS7.3. But before buying it, we would like to hear also somebody else experience. Any comment welcome, Damijan

I just installed IFX 2000 on Linux. It is a product with more capabilities than 7.3, at least in theory. However, the user community doesn't have the same experience with it that it has with 7.3. You could be exchanging known and annoying bugs for unknown and really annoying bugs. I haven't noticed anything really crippling yet, but I've barely begun to use the setup. If your first concern is to get your current application working quickly, I'd see if there's a workaround for your current bug before diving into a new version. If there's no satisfactory workaround, then you don't really have a choice anyway. If, on the other hand, you want to build up experience with the product that is likely to last awhile, it's my impression that ifx 2000 is likely to last a lot longer than many of the recent versions have. It's the confluence of the code streams from two different major database engines, so it seems like it may remain pretty stable in terms of features for a while, with future versions mainly having bug fixes.
