I need to quickly merge some PL/SQL statements from Oracle and Transact-SQL statement from SQL server. I guess the extension of SQL for Informix is called 4GL. Is this right? Can anyone recommend any books. I like the O'Reilly series. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Both of Art Taylor's books are excellent. I have not seen the others but have heard good things about all of them. 4GL is Informix's fast development language and so stands in place of the features of PL/SQL, yes. It is more powerful and a full application programming language, but it would be a good choice for Oracle developer used to using PL/SQL and shell scripts to accomplish maintenance tasks, especially R4GL the p-code version which has faster code turnaround than I4GL (aka C4GL) which is compiled. D4GL delivers both compiled and p-code versions. Art S. Kagel
