Limitation of # of users.

Hello, Does anybody know how to limit from an application the number of users allowed to connect to the database ? My first idea was to use sysmaster:syssessions table and to check the columns hostname and username. But I verified that in an NT Terminal Server environment, each thin client will be seen with the hostname of the NT terminal server. Because we allow many sessions from the same computer, we don't see any difference between: * a new session open on the same thin client using the login "XYZ", and * a new session open on a different thin client using the same login "XYZ". Any idea ? Thank you. Philippe Fornaciari Summit Technologies International p.fornaciari@summittechnologies.com
Hi, There is a way, but it isn't beautifull. What you can do is to define multiple server aliases, and configure for every alias a a nettype setting (put here the maximum number of sessions), let each application connect to the approriate server alias. Greetings, Rob Prop
