The reason it shows up as a Buffer Wait is so that you
don't confuse it with lock contention(row, page, table level locks)
There is a decent chance you are getting bufwaits due to LRU contention.
Thereare not enough LRU's to service the processes requesting Buffers.
You should be able to bump up the number of LRU's to 25 with
the number of buffers you have configured currently.
You might want to bump the number of Cleaners up to 25 as well, so that
there is one Cleaner available to service each LRU.
For more advice you might post your machine, OS, RAM, size of the
database, the type of system which is running(OLTP, DSS), and whether
or not informix is the only process on the machine.
