Just to throw another idea into this, what I do here is have a shell=20
script that starts Informix, which IS run a part of the machine boot,=20
but only if a certain file doesn't exist=2E i=2Ee=2E
=20
INFORMIXDIR=3D/informix
INFORMIXSERVER=3Dgps_shm
ONCONFIG=3Donconfig=2Egps
PATH=3D$PATH:$INFORMIXDIR/bin
export INFORMIXDIR INFORMIXSERVER ONCONFIG PATH if test ! -f /informix/local/etc/NOSTART; then
touch /informix/local/etc/NOSTART
oninit
fi
=20 The Informix shutdown script runs with the Unix shutdown, and removes=20
the NOSTART file=2E Thus, with a clean reboot of Unix, Informix start=
s=20
up automatically, but if Unix crashes, Informix stays down=2E
