In order to load a blob into a table using
dbaccess you need to call the function filetoclob or
filetoblob, such as:
INSERT INTO candidate (cand_num, cand_lname, resume)
VALUES (0, 'Haven', FILETOCLOB('haven.rsm', 'client'))
INSERT INTO candidate (cand_num, cand_lname, resume)
VALUES (0, 'Haven', FILETOBLOB('haven..jpg', 'client'))
For more information regarding this function consult your
Informix SQL Syntax Guide.

Subject: 32405 errors
Greetings,
I have created a blobspace and intend to store image files within. The
blobspace is set up OK and will accept the BLOB TEXT type of data no
problem.
However, I want to use dbaccess to LOAD files (such as .jpg). I keep
getting an 32405 error which is telling me that :-
32405 : incorrectly formed hexadecimal value.
I have tried LOADing all sorts of files but to no avail. After scannning
the usual few hundred pages of documentation I see nout of much help at this
stage. I figure it may have something to do with GLS locales but not too
sure. (btw, using default en_us)
(Using Informix On-Line server 7.31 on Solaris 2.7)
Any pointers? I've scanned the FAQ's! :)
Cheers,
Willie
I don't think the FILETOBLOB function in available in the 7.x product.
