I remember having a similar reaction to logical log use when we went to the dynamic server. It is a little fuzzy now, but I believe I found that logical logs under the dynamic server just store a good deal more information per transaction and the structure of the various records required is more complex. It is the nature of the dynamic server. I don't know if you have had occasion to try work work with the logical logs, but it will probably help show where the space goes.
