dbserver resources used during archive

Greetings. I use IDS 7.3.0.UC6 and am wondering what resource is needed to
handle database transactions during an ontape archive. We sometimes have to
run batch during the archive. Is there some dbspace that can be increased
to handle the amount of work done during an archive?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Peregrine

Unlike some other RDBMSs, Informix archives do not interrupt the normal
work flow of the engine during a hot backup. The archive negotiates with
the physical log to make sure that the as-of-start-of-archive version all
pages modified after the start of the archive are output to the archive
so that transactions proceed normally against the database.
The only resource you should be aware will be more in demand if the engine
is actively being updated are the TEMP dbspaces listed in DBSPACETEMP.
These are used to create temp tables to hold the preimages of modified pages
until the archive completes a dbspace at which time that dbspace's temp
table is dumped to the archive data stream and dropped. The more activity
on the engine modifying pages the more temp space will be needed.
