mt_shm_remove: WARNING: may not have removed all/c
Posted in 2015
An Informix instance failed to initialize with a shared memory error after encountering corrupt logical log records during recovery. The root cause was inability to rollforward from checkpoint due to unknown log record types. Suggested solutions included: attempting single-user mode initialization (oninit -j), restoring logical logs, or forcing the server to skip to the next log file.

Hi,
Good Day, one of our informix instance went down and cannot be initialized.
Upon checking the log file here is what we gathered, we even tried bouncing
the server to no avail.
Part of the initialization process succeeded up until ReadAhead Daemon
Initializing 8 flushers...succeeded
Initializing SDS Server network connections...succeeded
Initializing log/checkpoint information...succeeded
Initializing dbspaces...succeeded
Opening primary chunks...succeeded
Opening mirror chunks...succeeded
Validating chunks...succeeded
Initialize Async Log Flusher...succeeded
Starting B-tree Scanner...succeeded
Initializing DBSPACETEMP list...succeeded
Init ReadAhead Daemon...succeeded
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization
Part of the log file

11:09:59 B-tree scanner threshold set at 5000.
11:09:59 B-tree scanner range scan size set to -1.

11:09:59 Logical Recovery Started.
11:09:59 10 recovery worker threads will be started.

11:09:59 Transaction Not Found.
11:09:59 Log Record: log = 50635, pos = 0x8c018, type = UNKNOWN:UNKNOWN(2),
trans = 808465457
11:09:59 Cannot Rollforward from Checkpoint.
11:10:00 oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization
11:10:00 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Stopped.
11:10:00 mt_shm_remove: WARNING: may not have removed all/correct segments
Shared memory issue is irrelevant - the problem is you are not able to roll
forward. Looks like corrupt logical log records ? Got support then call IBM
Cheers

Hi Amitava,
Thanks for the response just to be sure you are referring to the oninit -j
command right? And if ever I successfully login in the server what would be
the next step to fully correct the issue?
Thanks,
correct you are.
Thanks,,
Amitava

You can try for 2 options.
1. restore logical log
2. force the server to the next log.
Thanks,,
