We are currently trialling SQL Retriever (VisionWare) as an ODBC solution. It comes in two parts - the PC based part, and the host based part. The PC based part can talk to multiple hosts, and the host does not have to be running an Informix database - VisionWare can supply drivers for Oracle, Sybase and Ingres to name a few. This ability is of interest to us, as we currently run Informix and Ingres (don't ask me why!) and are installing a system based on Sybase. If we convert a database to run under a different vendor's engine, we don't have to change SQL Retriever - just tell it that there is a different engine supplying the data. I advise being careful on which version you get. We had quite a few problems installing some versions. We are currently trialling version 3.1.900.0 (well, that's what it reports), which installed without any hassles, and runs fine. - Ben Kelley --- This e-correspondance is PostcardWare (tm).
