I am trying to use the ipload utility on Solaris and when I type the command it gives an error that it can't open the display. Does this error have anything to do with terminal emulation. Does anyone know what I need to do successful start ipload. Thanks. Cassandra Johnson Software Engineeer email: crjohnson@msystemsintl.com

The error is the plaintive wail of an X11-based GUI application which can't find a nice X server which will draw its graphics. If you are using a PC and are not running an X11 system (eg Reflections?) on it, then you are probably in deep trouble. However, the problem can be cured by exporting the DISPLAY=hostname:0.0 environment variable, where hostname identifies a nice screen running X11 which your Sun has permission to use (run "xhost +sunbox" on hostname; crude but usually effective. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
