Sizing informix server

There is any way to estimate the size (CPU, RAM, disk space) of a infomix server taking number users, concurrent users, transactions and any other element. How much memory is required for determined users? How much users support one core? Thank you for your answers.
That's very dependent on workload. I've seen thousands of users easily handled by a single or dual CPU system and I've seen 32 core machines struggle to handle less than one thousand users. Hi, there is no simple answer to that. It more or less depends on the behaviour of the application: - does it use a connection pool ? How many parallel connections to database are established ? - how many tables are involved in the main queries ? - how many records in the tables ? - how many parallel requests/transaction occur from application side ? - are there "big" queries which return a large number of records (and need to read a large amount of data for that) or mainly small queries which directly access over indexes ? - Is there one big database or many small databases ? - Are you starting with a small amount of users and growing or do you have a relatively stable amount of users ? Without knowing at least some answer to the questions, there can be no assumption for a good sizing. Thank you very much. I understand that you say. I've found a article that try resolve this situation but it's 10 years ago http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/zones/informix/library/techarticle/lurie/ 0201lurie.html#N105FA. My intention is to make a fast test taking the elements that I've mentioned to sizing of informix server. This exercise could help me to have a vision preliminar and after I could review and adjust the resources.
