Hi, Which replication you are planning to use ? i.e. is it HDR or CDR ? It must be HDR ( CDR is still in beta. Informix: Is this correct ?). The basic requirements are; 1. The h/w, OS and informix ver. should be identical on both the machines. 2. You should have reliable network accross the machines, if you want to use automatic switchover. ( It is nice to have automatic switchover but you should have reliable network). Make sure that you read the notes on 'Disadvantages of Automatic Switchover' in the DBA manual. Synch vs. Asynch: It all depends on what for you are using the replication ? If it is for 'highavailability' with no down time then Synch is preferable. But it may have little impact on performance.
