Re: beginners question : how to import textfiles into databases
Posted in 1996
Hi,
dbimport is meant for creating the database, tables and loading the
data into the tables. But the sql file and data files should have come from
dbexport.
In your case you have a data file which you got from access database.
First you have to create the table with same no of columns. (i.e. what
ever no of columns you havae in the data file). Ofcourse the data types
also should match.
Then you can get into dbaccess session and
'load from <data file name>
insert into <table name>'
This should work.
If you have any problem, please feel free to send a e-mail.
Thanks & Regards,
Srinivas
