Re: Monitoring traffic between INET/STAR

Steve, I don't know if this is what you are looking for but here goes: When you start the STAR daemon of sqlexecd, it's normally done as follows - As root, enter "$INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexed" You can also start the daemon with a logfile as follows - As root, enter "$INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd -l logfilename" Now, anytime anyone accesses the databases on that server through STAR, an entry is put in the logfile. The entry is as follows - Star_Process Remote_host Userid Database ---------------------------------------------- sqlexec WK0C03G2.nws.noaa.gov vball -dprograms This is also a great tool for troubleshooting when you can't get a machine to remotely connect to an Informix engine. Note: This is for 5.0X engines. Another caution, if you have hundreds of programs accessing your database remotely, you'll have hundreds of entries in this file. It gets large very fast. I hope this helps! Tracy W. Nedd National Weather Service - DBA vball@skipper.ssmc.noaa.gov > > Hi all.
