Officially, the only supportable configuration is to restore an archive on a machine running the same port of OnLine. Unofficially, it may work as long as - the OnLine pagesize is the same - both machines are byte-swapped, or both not (ignoring the philosophical question or whether "byte-swapped" is an accurate term) - structure storage is handled identically on both machines (very hard to determine, which is probably why we just say they must run the same port) I seriously doubt HP-UX and DEC Alpha met the above criteria.
