And I just got a call from yet another recruiter looking for Java and Oracle skills at yet another financial house. (I lost count at how many financial houses want C# and .net expertise...) And of course, lets not forget about the Financial shops that run IDS. I know of one that should have at least two Premiere Services folks on site... (or was it 3? ) ;-) The point Serge is that when IBM bought IDS and when IBM said that IDS was their go to platform for OLTP, IDS should be the platform to continue the Sybase take out.... BTW, there's an interesting financial shop here in Chicago that is still a Sybase shop. Looks like they didn't bite on the DB2 bid. ;-)

Looks like they didn't bite on the DB2 bid. ;-) I did not claim DB2 got them all. I claim that IBM reacted, succeeded and still is successful in migrating Sybase. And the choice of DB2 was made when DB2 was the only choice and IDS was Informix. There is an interesting factoid here: If you invest (heavily) into Sybase migration you can tick up your share by 3%(?) at most because that's all there is.
