For speed of the RDBMS and rapid development use Unify/Accell. For distributed DBs use Sybase. For mixed hosts (Unix, VMS) use Oracle. The RDBMS is usually decided for you when you buy the application you need. This is where Oracle win, as there are a vast number of applications written in it and Oracle have the size to back them up. Regards Donald Campbell [ SueDon Ltd - UNIX and Database Specialists ]
