Re: Which Unix DBMS?

Hi Jeff! Well maybe you are right! Informix, perhaps, has improved the last five years to make it comparable or exceed, I doubt it though, Oracle in terms of RDBMS performance and maybe even tools. I don't know. To me, this is an unproven entity until the time comes where I HAVE to use another RDBMS aside Oracle. Unfortunately, or fortunately as the case maybe, I have only dealt with Oracle since 1989. A limited and closed focous the last six years? Perhaps. But the point I'm trying to make is this: I had once the opportunity and luxury, as required by my past employer, to make the comparisons then, I just wished Ingress was on the list too, and I cannot make the sames tests every two years to find out if one is better than other this time around. Perhaps I should. But that would have to be mandated to me by some external requirements, ie. new employer. Rightly or wrongly, I tend to be loyal on something that I have proven worthy in the past until proven otherwise, maybe difficult to do. Right now, I'd rather spend a lot of my time performing and mastering Oracle DBA chores, there is a lot of them I must confess, than to see if some other RDBMS has done well against Oracle on benchmark tests. Thank for your comments. Good luck...
