Re: Basic Question

Hi,
There are some important points to remember first, if you are going to use
dbexport, the maximum file size that it can create is 2GB. So if the table
is expected be more than 2GB the destination device for dbexport should
be a tape device.
You can create a database without logging. To load it using dbimport:
dbimport <dbname>
By default it will create a database without logging.
And if you want to turn on logging for the database you can use ontape
to change the logging mode.
ontape -s -B <dbname> will change it to buffered logging
ontape -s -U <dbname> will change it to unbuffered logging
ontape -s -A <dbname> will change it to ANSI-Mode.
I would suggest that you use onunload and onload. If you will be migrating
the data into a platform that has the same page size. Its quicker and faster
than dbexport/dbimport.
