Try with seipcpip, rather than setlitcp. If you don't need network, that is. >>> <liliano@my-deja.com> 06/02/00 01:28pm >>> Hi, Do you know any configuration parameters that improve performance for Informix SE SELECT/FETCH operations ? (I use ESQLC under Solaris7 x86) Can i increase buffers ? My configuration "setlitcp" is important for performance ? Thank you Liliano Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

On Linux I don't see much of a difference in terms of performance between inet sockets and local ipc, but on UnixWare 2 it did make quite a difference. (pipes faster). Change setlitcp to seipcpip (inter-process communication pipes) in etc/sqlhosts. servername seipcpip real.host.name.domain sqlexec Kill the running daemon, if you had it started for that server. Don't restart it. When using seipcpip you don't need an informix daemon. Strangely enough, you also have to specify a hostname (e.g. real.host.name.domain) on the same line in etc/sqlhosts. That's slightly absurd since by definition you connect to the local host since pipes are a form of local ipc. Make sure it is the fully qualified hostname, or it may not work. Also you have to specify a TCP service name, which isn't really used.
