How many databases does it take to fill up a databasespace?

We've been using a 3rd party software package which creates a new database for each project it manages. So, after some performance problems they've called on their friendly neighborhood DBA for help. We're looking at an upgrade to a new box as well, but more specifically, changing the way the databases are created. I'm pretty much from the one-database-per-databasespace school of thought in the case of many databases in one instance, but am always interested in hearing what others have to say. Of course, more databasespaces means more management of those spaces, but hey, I'm a performance purist. Holy anal retentiveness, Batman! What do you think out there??? TIA!
I'll bet your dictionary is sized too small. ;-) Bryan Osborne wrote: > We've been using a 3rd party software package which creates a new database > for each project it manages. It depends. One database|one dbspace improves the granularity of restores when someone calls you and says: I accidentally deleted all the records in my project. Can you restore it from backup? Since the restore is at best at the dbspace level. Art S. Kagel Bryan Osborne wrote: > > We've been using a 3rd party software package which creates a new database > for each project it manages.
