Connections to Informix hang then clear after a short time

Running IDS10.FC5 on AIX6.1 TL00 At different times during the day new connections to the Informix engine hang. Either TCP or SHM. A little history. This instance was on a Windows environment when this problem first started. Instance was migrated to a Solaris environment. The problem followed. As it did when we migrated to the current platform. Have looked for Locks Long transactions Global transactions Disk errors Memory errors The server load is not high. Once the event clears we get the following message in the online log listener-thread: err = -25573: oserr = 72: errstr = : Network driver cannot accept a connection on the port. System error = 72. and or 951 or 952 errors. Any information would be helpful. Thank you, Bob Boardley

Anyway, check in your /usr/include/sys/errno.h or /usr/include/errno.h what is error 72. It may give you a clue... A little googling told me it may be "CONNABORTED 72 Software caused connection abort" which doesn't make it very clear... Anyway, try to check your DNS, or better saying, reverse DNS. If possible put the client IP address in /etc/hosts and make sure your systems looks there before connecting to the DNS server... In any case, if this is a supported combination you should open a PMR with IBM... Maybe it's a known issue... Other things to consider: maximum open file descriptors, TCP settings (number of ports usable) etc... Regards.
