When onstat -g sql <sessionid> is executed is gives the Last parsed
SQL statement. Is there anyway of querying the sysmaster database to get
this statement?

Hi Paul,
what about querying sysmaster:informix.syssqlstat using
your session id ?

I don't have an online engine to test this with, but I believe it's
stored in the syssessions table.

Anyway, does anyone has a detailed description of ALL system tables and their meanings ? I didn't find complete information in the online documentation, so I figured out most of it for myself. If there is no useful documentation, does anyone know a website with some useful information about that topic ? Chris
See Lester Knutsen's article on sysmaster: http://www.advancedatatools.com/articles.htm Also, examine file $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysmaster.sql.
