partial copying of db data from 1 server to anothe

Good afternoon,
I have a mini-project I'm researching and I'm interested in your experience
with any commercial utilities or home-grown solution for keeping a development
copy of a database up-to-date on a periodic basis with a copy of data from a
production (live) database.
To give you a little more in formation: Once per week, I currently drop my
development database (a very large DB), then I use onunload to dump a copy of
the production IDS database to a binary file, then I load the database into my
test/development Informix DB server. This takes hours and hours to keep my
test/development system fairly up-to-date with my production system.
What I'm curious about, is there a way to do that incrementally instead of
dumping in the entire production database? Does anyone know of a utility that
will compare the two databases and replicate the differences to a test system?
Or at least dump the difference to file?
Thanks in advance for any advice or experience with partial copying of table
data from 1 server to another with Informix.
Sincerely,
Jonathan B. Smaby
