Compile problem

I am trying to compile an executable program through i4gl
(i4gl/module/compile/runable) & I get the following error:-
-4604: Error(s) found in 4GL module.
If I edit the file it has the following in:-
| The following errors were discovered during compilation.
|
|Undefined first referenced
| symbol in file
|getspnam /informix/lib/tools/libos.a(ospasswd.o)
|john.4ge: fatal error: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to
john.4ge
|
Is it something as simple as an environment variable?
Thanks in advance,
John.
I have seen similar things on Unixware 7.x. (what OS do you use?)
In the case of UW7 if I remember correctly, getspnam is a function for
shadow passwords and is defined in libgen (add -L/usr/ccs/lib -lgen or
something like that). See also man getspnam.
One of the thing that worried me was that there was both a libgen.a of
informix and a libgen.a of Unixware ... (so you have to be careful with
-L flags).

Answering my own question here, sort of, I added
function getspnam()
end function
to the end of the 4gl & it resolved the problem, but obviously I am missing
a library or something, somewhere . . .any ideas?
Thanks,
John.
