The reports are generated to a file and they include printer codes for the selected printer. In Windows 3.11 we print to raw mode printers and the printer codes are interpreted, but only 80 columns can be printed. In Windows 95 the printer codes are not interpreted and only 80 columns can be printed too. We have worked with HP LaserJet, Epson and Generic/Text Only drivers but the behavior is the same. This simple example shows how a line of more than 80 characters is cutted in printing: main start report example to printer output to report example() finish report example end main report example() output left margin 1 right margin 132 top margin 1 bottom margin 1 page length 66 format on every row # print ascii 27,"(s16.66H" -- in HPLaserJet this is the -- 16.66cpi escape code print "This is an example of a line whith more than 80 columns, but you can't print it, it is cutted in printing..." end report - Set a Generic/Text Only printer as default printer in Windows and set FILE: as the port. - Compile this program and run it - You can see in the generated file that no more than 80 columns are printed. - If you uncomment the print ascii 27 ... line and set the port to a raw printer port you can see too how the escape code is not interpreted (in Windows 3.11 this works). How can I print a 132 columns report in 17cpi using printer fonts?. What am I doing wrong? I can save this behavior if I start the report to a LPT port: start report example to "LPT1" works perfectly, but I don't want it because I can't capture the LPT1 to a remote printer port, for example. Another way is to use a 'lpr' program but this is dependent of the network software and someones don't allow to automatize a lpr and this solution don't work for local printers. Someone have experienced whith this? Any idea will be welcome. Thanks in advance. -- Luis M. Agudelo luismi@cot.es
