RE: onunload limit

There is 2 GB file size limit for onunload in IDS 7.31. This is a workaround that I have used over many past years to overcome this problem. It worked for me on AIX, but I do not see why is should not work on Linux. Also make sure that the user limit (ulimit) for file size is set to unlimited and file system is large enabled file system (no 2GB limit on the file system). To Unload A Database : 1) Cd into a temp filesystem where you will be unloading the database ( make sure the filesystem is created using the large file system enabled option in AIX ). 2) Create the dummy raw device : mknod dbname p 3) Change the permission and ownership on the file to the following : chmod 660 dbname chown informix:informix dbname 4) Redirect writing to this file to a compressed file : cat dbname | compress > dbname.Z & 5) Onunload the database : onunload -t /temp directory/dbname -b 16 -s 3000000000 dbname To Load.... 1) Cd into a temp filesystem where you will be uncompressing the database ( make sure the filesystem is created using the large file system enabled option in AIX ) : uncompress dbname.Z 2) Once uncompressed, change the permission and ownership on the file to the following : chmod 660 dbname chown informix:informix dbname 3) Onload the database : onload -t /temp directory/dbname -b 16 -s 30000000000 -d datadbs dbname Basim Chafik Senior Systems Analyst IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) 1.800.688.4895 basim.chafik@plx.com plexus (Division of BancTec) -----Original Message----- From: rotor [mailto:rotor@navigator.lv] Sent: Tuesday, November 07, 2006 10:34 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: onunload limit Good day.
