NEWERA - No future !!

I just recently asked Informix Support (Australia) about using Newera with Visual Studio 6.0 which of course includes VC++ 6.0. Their response : "Newera is certified with VC++ 5.0. It should work with VC++ 6.0 but it not supported if a problem arises which is related to 6.0." In addition, "Newera is certified for NT4 SP3. At this stage no plans to support on NT4 SP4, Windows 2000 (NT 5) or Windows 98". "NT4 SP4 is causing problems with other products of ours". Their suggestion: "Build and test under both the certified environment and your selected environment". Summary: Informix will support you with their "Newera maintenance releases" only if you restrict yourself to old software ! BTW: I rebuilt our Newera application under VS6.0 successfully without any problems. Anybody else ? Richard Lewis (Please remove nospam to reply)
