RE: Oracle experience

Limited (and now outdated) experience with Oracle 8i was quite negative: * bewildering number of CDs and disks for the thing * huge amount of space needed for installation of engine * almost as much needed for clients * enormous amounts of not-very helpful documentation * couldn't handle any real load for spatial queries (mzybe fixed in newer versions?) On the plus side, I guess, is that there are lots of products that do interact with Oracle. In the end we migrated to Informix quite satisfactorily (Spatial and Geodetic blades rock!) I have our software up and running on Informix (aix 5.1). No worries. However, I am in the process of installing Oracle on a Solaris box and to be honest, their documentation is not on par with the "industry leader". Note: I said "industry leader", not the "industries best". The install script also..., sucks. Am I a moron or do any of you feel the same way?
