Creating file within C UDR

Hi guys, I need to create a file within a C UDR. I tried with a call like mi_file_open("path_to_file",MI_O_WRONLY,0666) but I get an error since the file doesn't yet exist. I tried to use the "O_CREAT" flag (like the 'open' standard function) but get the same error. How can I create a file without using the standard I/O procedures (open,close,write,read) ? TIA Av
