Jessica Rabbit I talked to two representatives of DGC yesterday (Sandie and Dale). Here are the highlights: Product: Inteligencia Purpose: Perform Archiving for Online Systems. Developed on 486 platform. I have no specifics on their port schedule but they seem to be porting on a "first-come-first-serve" basis. Customer order driven. The product archives down to the table level. You can restore to the ROW level. Any concurrency or data integrity issues are left to the DBA. Backup Options: Best scenario is to backup when the engine is idle (or DOWN...yes if can backup the database when the engine is down. (It doesn't use the engine). Can backup concurently with users online. Cron-able. Speed: In a straight race with tbtape, tbtape is 5% faster. Can backup to multiple devices concurrently (in this case it is much faster than tbtape. A nifty scenario this provides is you could backup half you database to one tape drive and the other half to another... Can restore to a database while it is online. Does support carosel/jukebox type tape units. Licenses are per node (like Informix). Cost: I just got E class numbers. $6,995.00 Support: At this time, since the product is new, 6 months of support is included in the price. They weren't sure about what their maintainence would be but they said "like Informix's" Evaluations: Can see manual with non-disclosure, and can dial-in and do an online demo of the product. NOTE: I am NOT affiliated with DGC in anyway...I just talked to them on the phone. ALSO NOTE: DO NOT treat these specifications as gospel...call, ask your questions and draw your own conclusions.
