Batch language for Informix?

Typically I'm used to seeing applications that process huge amounts of data use Informix 4gl or esql/c. I'm referring to the case where a company might have to update their datawarehouse from input files that are hundreds of MB in size or more, and not an OLTP application. I'm just curious, what products are you using as a batch language against your Informix OnLine engines? Are there any third party languages that can run on the server and can process data efficiently? I have my doubts right now about the NewEra partioning strategy, but does anyone know when it will be real (available and working)? Does anyone else out there plan on using the partioning cabability? I'd be interested to discuss with you how you plan on using it. Client/server tools are out of the question because the net would get flooded and end up being the weak link. Any language would need to have a procedural capability to it like 4gl or c, aloow embedded sql, and be fast. I'm just searching for alternatives right now and would appreciate any input. ---- Michael Reed - Radiix Inc., 3588 Plymouth Rd., Ste 257, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 Radiix email: mreed@radiix.com Radiix voice: 313-677-UNIX Ford email: mreed@ese721.ta.ford.com Ford voice: 313-323-2965
