Informix does not require a login to the default database server as
long as the client machine and user are trusted by the server machine
(or local). You are not logged in to the server as an administrator
unless you are logged into the system as user informix. Dbaccess
replaced ISQL in the sense that it is delivered with the engine. ISQL
which also includes PERFORM and ACE is available as a separate product.
You can run a script using dbaccess one of three ways:
From the menus: After connecting to a database - Select
<Query-Language><Choose> and either select one of the displayed sql
scripts if it is in the current directory or enter the path to the file
if not.
From the command line either:
dbaccess databasename scriptname # Leave off the '.sql' extension
or
dbaccess databasename - <scriptname.sql
Add -e before the databasename in either to have commands echod as they
are executed.
