Jim, Increasing the number of semaphore identifiers in the kernal should have no visible effect to Online. But, when increasing this parameter also increase the "Max number of Semaphores" semmns, "Number of Semaphore Undo Structures" semmnu, and "Semaphore Undo Entries per Process" semmnu. Take a look at the man page on semaphore usage to get a feel for how these kernal limits are used. Online uses semahores as needed in its locking logic. When informix can no longer grab semaphores or shared memory it will CRASH! I've had it happen a couple of times till I found a value that worked with my large Informix database.
