Revelation, I-CONN is Not! SDK
Posted in 2000
Just wanted to share a stupid mistake! I've spent the better part of 4 hours confident I could find the purpose of all the obtusly named ifxxx.a.so files that come with Informix I-CONNECT Typically these come bundled with the IDS server, in all is myriad forms. The docs merely quote, read the "release" notes. If you install IDS and then I-CONN you get release notes, but not a smidgen on the I-CONN static and shared libraries, nada, nothing! On a hunch I downloaded an SDK and installed it on another machine.. "those" release notes are very very different from the IDS and I-CONN notes! The I-CONNECT kit is Not! the SDK. If you think you know what your doing your far better off obtaining the SDK, and staying aware of which one your using. why is he babbling about this? you might ask. I'm trying to see how well the unixODBC driver manager and database explorer for XFree86 work. Based on Qt, it looks quite nice, Microsoft dba's should feel quite at home if it works.
