My client (unix server, Informix 7.2) is getting error -710 almost daily.
They run Update Statistics which resolves the problem temporarily and until
the next day or two days later where it reoccurs.
We ran oncheck -pT and no table has version problems.
Please help,
thanks

OK - first thing most people will say is: upgrade. 7.2 is getting old with
known defects, but I don't know 710... It sounds like a really ugly one, but
depends on changes to the schema - is that happening rapidly in your
database?
Can you isolate the location of the problem? Does it apply to tables or
stored procedures?
Here's a point to look for: if your program is creating temp tables,
preparing cursors against it, and then dropping and recreating the temp
tables, you will invalidate your statements. This used to be a real problem
in our software around 5.01 engines, but it got fixed. I've NEVER seen this
happen for a few years.
The upgrade may well solve the problem: the whole 710 error sounds like a
real big weakness that Informix may have tried to eliminate in later engine
versions.
