Once alerted ... > > How come that my Fg Writes is at 0 ? you don't want to see anything but 0. a foreground write takes place when the engine needs a buffer and there isn't one free. it then must decide which buffer(s) to flush to disk and do so, a manual intervention by the engine. usually the page cleaners dutifully take care of this, and the engine doesn't have to be involved. this stops processing when the engine has to clear out some buffers for use. it is considered the least efficient of the different types of writes; forground, lru and chunk writes. if you see foreground writes, (or more that a few, if my server is up for many days, i usually see a 2 - 4), then you have to adjust things to take care of that. CLEANERS, LRUS, LRU_MAX_DIRTY, and LRU_MIN_DIRTY, are the main ones to play with. BUFFERS might be an issue as well, you might need more. basically you want it set up so that the number of lru writes balance with the number of chunk writes for your situation, and you have few or no forground writes. hope this helps. mickm
