PHP3/Apache/IDS Date Format

Doubtless a simple one this. We have successfully installed and configured PHP3/Apache for use with our IDS system but find all dates are displayed in the U.S. format, i.e. MDY rather than our UK standard of DMY. Where do we set this environment variable(s) in order that PHP3/Apache inherits it ? I presume the variables are DBLOCALE,CLIENT_LOCALE and DBDATE ?? I think that the environment that matters in this case is the environment of the process that started the Informix engine.
