Dear All,
We have Informix 9.21 running on Solaris and using Java for
application development.
At present we have our Database as ISO-8859 we are planning to use
UTF-8 .
I have set up a new database for UTF-8 with the following steps
1.Export the database
2.Set DB_LOCALE to en_us.utf8
3.Dbimport
Migration goes fine, if i set both DB_LOCALE & CLIENT_LOCALE to
en_us.utf8 i get errors in data migration bcoz of some characters in
Lvarcar.
If i set just DB_LOCALE it works fine.
Please if anybody has faced the same problems please let me know the
solution . Is it required to set both locales ?
My other problem is , we r using Server Studio for sql in client
machine , if i set DB_LOCALE and CLIENT_LOCALE as en_us.utf8 ..it
displays garbage data both in Varchar & Lvarchar. If i try to set it
as EN_US.57372 it doesn't like it.
But if i set Only DB_LOCALE to en_us.utf8 , the data in Varchar is fine
but LVARCHAR again dispaly garbage for characters like "é" etc, But if
i check at the OS level data looks fine for insert, update both
existing and new data.
Please advise me what needs to be set for Client machine to display
these characters properly both on Web as well as Server Studio. Still
our application uses en_US.8859 & we are going to change it to UTF-8.
Your help would be highly appreciated as in the new year we have to
migrate to UTF-8.
Wish you all Merry X-mas and very Happy new year.
Thx in Advance
Kalpana
