IDS 11.1 Effective Affinity Value Problem?
Posted in 2008
Hi, =C2=A0 I am testing IDS 11.10.FC2W2 on an HP-UX Itanium platform with 32 multi-core= CPUs.=C2=A0 When I query the sysmaster database and look at records in sysc= onfig or syscfgtab for AFF_NPROCS I see a value of 22 for the original value= and 38 for the effective value (cf_effective).=C2=A0 How can this be?=C2= =A0 Is it a bug? =C2=A0 The onconfig file includes the following settings: =C2=A0 NUMCPUVPS=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 22 =C2=A0 AFF_SPROC=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 2 =C2=A0 AFF_NPROCS=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 22 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 AUTO_CKPTS=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 1 =C2=A0 AUTO_LRU_TUNING 1 =C2=A0 AUTO_AIOVPS=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 0 =C2=A0 AUTO_REPREPARE=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 1 =C2=A0 Both the sysconfig table and the syscfgtab list AFF_NPROCS at 22 which is th= e value in the onconfig file.=C2=A0 How can an effective AFF_NPROCS have a v= alue greater than NUMCPUVPS?=C2=A0 I thought that there might be a possibili= ty of some interaction with some of the new AUTO_*=C2=A0 features for IDS 11= .1 such as AUTO_CKPTS.=C2=A0 However, I am also testing IDS 11.10.FC2 on an=20= HP-UX PA-RISC server with 32 CPUs [not multi-core CPUs] and don=E2=80=99t se= e the problem with the cf_effective value.=C2=A0 The cf original and effecti= ve values are both listed at 22 for the HP-UX PA-RISC server.=C2=A0 The onco= nfig settings listed above are the same on both the PA-RISC server and on th= e Itanium server? =C2=A0 Any comments and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. =C2=A0 Regards,=20 Bruce=20
