IDS 11 Effective Affinity Value Problem? - Resent
Posted in 2008
Hi, It looks like the cut and past that I used in my previous e-mail created a lot of extraneous characters.? So, I have resent my e-mail. I am testing IDS 11.10.FC2W2 on an HP-UX Itanium server with 32 CPUs [milti-core CPUs].? When I use the sysmaster database and look at records in sysconfig or syscfgtab for AFF_NPROCS I see 22 for the original value and 38 for the effective value (cf_effective).? How can this be? Is it a bug? The onconfig file includes the following settings: NUMCPUVPS??? 22 AFF_SPROC?????? 2 AFF_NPROCS?? 22 AUTO_CKPTS? 1 AUTO_LRU_TUNING? 1 AUTO_AIOVPS? 0 AUTO_REPREPARE? 1 Both the sysconfig table and the syscfgtab list AFF_NPROCS at 22 which is the value in the onconfig file.? How can an effective AFF_NPROCS have a value greate than NUMCPUVPS? I thought that there might be a possibility of some interaction with some of the new ATUO_* features in IDS 11.1, such as the ATUO_CKPTS.? However, I am also testing IDS 11.10.FC2 on an HP-UX PA-RISC [not multi-core CPUs] server with 32 CPUs and I do not see the problem with the cf_effective value.? The cf values are both (original, effective) listed as 22 on the HP-UX PA-RISC server.? The onconfig settings listed above are the same on both the PA-RISC server and on the Itanium server. Any comments and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bruce
