PLEASE HELP ME ... I AM IN DEEP TROUBLE ...
OS: SCO OPEN SERVER 5.0
OWS: INFORMIX OWS 7.2
When I try to alter a table, i get following error:
the query:
ALTER TABLE bcopy>ADD (vendorcode CHAR(5) BEFORE
edition )
the error:
242: Could not open database table (libdba.bcopy).
106: ISAM error: non-exclusive access.
Please note that nobody is using this table, or
connected to this table. Can any one help me.
I had already tried to LOCK TABLE ... and then ALTER
... but of no use. I had also used "onmode -k" and
then "oninit" but of no use.
Thanks in advance

I think that nobody can help you, so the best thing you can do is:
make schema of bcopy table
unload to tmp.unl
select list_of_all_columns_before_edition,
" ",edition,lixt_of_all_columns_after_edition from bcopy
drop table bcopy
or (better)drop all indexes on bcopy table and rename table bcopy to bcopy.bad
edit schema file
recreate table bcopy (without indexes) from new schema
load from tmp.unl insert into bcopy
recreate indexes on table bcopy

I notice that you have this problem for long time. I think that nobody
can help you, so the best what can you do is:
unload to tmp.unl
select ...," ",colname,... from
tabname
drop table tabname1
recreate table tabname1 with new schema (without indexes)
load from tmp.unl insert into tabname
recreate indexes
Is the instance replicated using HDR? Try running update statistics on the table first. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
