[Q]Setting environment variable for NON-LOGIN scripts
Posted in 1995
I am collecting data from a number of psuedo-terminals and they connect to my SCO UNIX box through a Connect script i have written. One of the functions of this login script is to load data into an Informix table, for which it requires database priviliges and the environment variables. My question is, an it is probably my lack of understanding of how the system operates, HOW do I set the environment varaibles for these sessions (processes) and who should I give DBA priviliges if a USER account is not being used. The connections use the same script, for each session and ps -ef shows that they are owned by root. I have tried to set up the environment variables within the script and given DBA priviliges to root, but it still does not work. Is there a way to do this, am I asking for the impossible. Any help would be appreciated. -- Saqib Mausoof -------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a hard enough time speaking for myself, so speaking on behalf of my employer is out of the question.
