The first question is the obvious one - what's the TERM variable set to? The next question might be less obvious - what's the terminal configured to operate as? You may have set TERM to a Wyse terminal and set up the terminals to emulate vt100 or something. Assuming that you have TERM and the terminal agreeing in general, are there any minor differences, e.g, TERM set to vt100 and terminal set up to a less than exact emulation of vt100? We have had problems with an application (not Informix) which tries to set the arrow keys and numeric pad into what I think DEC calls "keypad mode" and terminal emulation software that doesn't want to cooperate. Has someone tried to "improve" your termcap entries? Is the terminal set up in *exactly* the same way that termcap thinks it is? Strange things sometimes happen if termcap assumes autowrap at line end and the terminal doesn't wrap - or vice versa. Hope this gives you some pointers. USCD Pascal used to include a utility for testing terminal emulations and diagnosing problems. I've never seen a Unix equivalent. Can anybody point me to one? Ian
