connection redirection with HDR secondary
Posted in 2013
A user on Windows clients (CSDK, registry SQLHOSTS group entries) with an Informix 11.70 HDR pair on Linux found client connection redirection worked while both primary and secondary were up, but connections were not redirected after the primary went down and the secondary was promoted to standard. Respondents pointed to HDR failover options (DRAUTO settings) and recommended using the Connection Manager, bundled with CSDK 3.70+, with failover rules for automatic redirection, plus an IBM technote on making groups work via the Windows registry. The poster thanked them but reported no outcome.

Hi all, i have setup a connection redirection with using client sdk and windows registry my client os is windows and server side is redhat linux and informix 11.70 i have setup HDR Secondary server when the both primary and secondary in online and read only it's connection redirection group is working but when down the primary side and up the secondary as standard it's not working can any one tel me is there any way to do this connection grou detail which i setup in windows regisry Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\Informix\\\\SqlHosts\\\\callcenter PROTOCOL group OPTIONS e=drinfdb12 HOST - SERVICE - Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\Informix\\\\SqlHosts\\\\callcenter\\\\drinfdb12 PROTOCOL onsoctcp OPTIONS g=callcenter HOST drunx04s SERVICE 1526 Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\Informix\\\\SqlHosts\\\\callcenter\\\\hqinfdb12 PROTOCOL onsoctcp OPTIONS g=callcenter HOST hqunx32s SERVICE 1526 Thanks pushpa
Hello. You could check for "HDR failover" in Information Center website, there are 4 different configs, including the one you can use together with Connection Manager. But as you have only two nodes, I think you might let DRAUTO=1 or even 2. Regards. Hi, first thanks for the reply. my requirement is i have windows app server for .net web application so i need to redirect connection when the primary side down to secondary which should be automated. i'm trying to do this without doing any changes in sqlhosts file and onconfig file is it possible and is there any way to do it ( i'm trying to do it with windows sqlhost registry file editing and adding a connection group with setnet32 client) Thanks pushpa
Ok, for automatically client redirect connection, you should use Connection Manager. You should use DRAUTO=3, instead, after configuring connection manager rules. Connection Manager is bundled into CSDK, in newer versions (3.70+). Check this page for further examples (11.50, but it also works in 11.70, with even more FOC configurations): http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v115/topic/com.ibm.admin.doc/id s_admin_1201.htm?resultof=%22%63%6f%6e%6e%65%63%74%69%6f%6e%22%20%22%63%6f%6e%6e %65%63%74%22%20%22%6d%61%6e%61%67%65%72%22%20%22%6d%61%6e%61%67%22%20 Regards. You are going about it the right way. Have you seen this link: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21447622 It explains how to make groups work on windows by editing the windows registry. Another alternative would be to use the Connection Manager to redirect the connection requests when your server fails over to the secondary. Art Art S.
