Have a look at the schema of the table. Sound like the table has an update
trigger running a stored procedure that is doing something inconsistent with
the rest of your code.

Subject: 668: System command cannot be executed. 255: Not in transaction
Hi all
I'm new to this... so please be patient.
I'm using AIX Version 5.2.
I'm just trying to update a table and it's giving me the following
errors:
668: System command cannot be executed.
255: Not in transaction.
This is happening in a "4gl program" and/or "SQL"
It's a simple update:
update 'table_name"
set "columnX" = "valueX"
where "columnY" = "valueY"
Please help.
Thank You,
Frank.

That's exactly what happen... rkusenet@yahoo.com has also suggested the same thing. There is a trigger on the table which is calling a couple of stored procedures and one of them has a "system" command calling another program that had been recently modified. Thanks "rkusenet@yahoo.com, Catherine Geier, and ifxmaill..@quant.co.nz Much appreciated. :o) God Bless You all...
