Malcolm I would have thought so, 5.1 I believe is 32 bit whereas 5.3 is 64 bit, better to get FC to run on it. I think you're right that 5.3 is 64-bit only but 5.1 does have a 64 bit mode as well. 32-bit applications will generally run in a 64-bit environment on AIX. See: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pseries/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.doc/aixbman/admnconc/64_bit_mode.htm It seems from the spreadsheet provided by VG that an upgrade is required to 9.40.UC5+ or 9.40.FC5+.
