Temp tables
Posted in 1995
Hi all, Does anyone know under what situation would a temporary table NOT get cleaned up by Informix 5.0? I have multiple applications that does explicit 'create temp table'. Before the application exits, we do a 'drop table' on the temp table. What we are seeing, however, is our dbspace slowly being filled up with these temp tables. This is shown when the server is rebooted with the following: Dropping temporary tblspace 6000032, recovering 8 pages. : : I also verified the existance of these temp table using 'tbcheck -pe' and accounting for the difference in used and allocated pages. Currently, I know of only two ways when Informix will NOT clean up these temp tables: 1) When the database engine is bounced before the apps can exit. 2) When the client/server connection is broken. In version 5.0, when you do an explicit 'create temp table', these tables are defaulted in the dbspace where your database was created. (i.e., where your systables resides). Even if you don't do a 'drop table', when your application exits, these temp tables should get dropped. Am I running into a bug here? Informix does not have an answer. Thanks in advance. ##################################################################### David Nguyen \\\\\\|||/// ---------- Internet: david_nguyen@notes.pw.com . ======= / Uh... \\ Price Waterhouse / \\| O O | / Just restore \\ 3110 Fairview Park Dr \\ / \\v_'/ <- from tape. / Suite 300 # _| |_ \\ / Falls Church, VA 22042 (#) ( ) ---------- (703) 641-5597 #\\//|* *|\\\\ #\\/( * )/ # ===== #include disclaimer.h # (\\ /) Blah, Blah, Blah. # || || .#---'| |----. #----' -----' #####################################################################
