"You can tune a kernel but you can't tune a fish." is actually an old line somewhere in the Unix docs, way back when. Its a play on tuna fish. Also the only city to every be insulting in the Unix code is Cleveland Oh. If you read the early O'Reilly texts on Unix, they have the quote.
